BIO:
Visiting Professor Amanda Peters joined the South Texas College of Law faculty in 2007. She teaches Legal Research and Writing. Prior to joining the faculty, Professor Peters worked at the Harris County District Attorney's Office for more than seven years, where roughly half of her career centered on litigation and the other half centered on appellate practice. Over the course of her career, she tried 40 jury trials and authored 177 appellate briefs. After leaving the District Attorney's Office in 2007, Professor Peters worked as a criminal defense attorney and represented clients at the trial court level and on appeal before starting as a Visting Professor at South Texas College of Law. Professor Peters graduated with an English degree from Texas Tech University. She obtained a specialization in Technical Writing with a minor in Communication Studies. She went to Texas Tech's School of Law, where she received a CALI award for her work in Legal Writing and Research, a nomination to the Legal Research Board, and a position on the Law Review. While on the Law Review, Professor Peters authored an article on the Texas Death Penalty that was published. She also received the "Outstanding Casenote Editor" award for her work as an editor on the Law Review.
